I made that quilt.
I love quilts. My mother and grandmothers and great-grandmothers have all been quilters. I have a family tree that goes back to the 1500s and there is a Master Weaver on there, so textile arts are in my DNA. I made a quilt for my wedding, I made quilts for my babies. I even wrote a great report on Quilting for my American Art History class at the University of Dallas.
I made another quilt just like this one but different, for the other daughter.
I started them 8 years ago. When I only had Two Daughters.
And now I have THREE daughters.
The quilting gods have been good to me and I may have found enough discontinued fabric, in the same print but a THIRD color to back the third quilt. (If anyone has some extra Moda Robyn Pandolph Secret Garden or Morning Glory fabric, Please Email me.)
I only have 568 more triangles to sew onto 71 more squares to make 8 pointed stars.
Lovely! I love quilting! (David's is nearly done.)
ReplyDeleteOh, and check etsy for your fabric, I've had great luck there. :)
Oh believe me, I have. Thanks to Rusticgirl from UT for my new growing quilt.
DeleteThe artsy quilt.. I like it!
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew how to quilt. Please teach your daughters!
ReplyDeleteIt's not too late, Madeline! I winged it until I took some classes. Take a class, make a quilt!
DeleteI love the look of quilts. I've been wanting to try making one for a while, but every time I go to the fabric store I get intimidated by all the choices. If I'm going to invest so many hours, I better have picked out the right color, patterns, etc.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right- taking a class would be the way to go!
I heart your quilts! Wish you lived closer so we could craft together! Frank calls me a fabric snob b/c if my sheets don't have a high enough thread count, I'm not sleeping on them... Or, certain fabric I won't buy/wear. I know. Snob. So. I don't judge you and you don't judge me and we're all good. Right.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful...people who are excellent crafters amaze me.
ReplyDeleteMy mom quilts. She just picked it up one day and ran from there. I have not inherited any of her skill. You have, though!
