Theme Thursday: Black and White

I made that quilt.

I love quilts.  My mother and grandmothers and great-grandmothers have all been  quilters.  I have a family tree that goes back to the 1500s and there is a Master Weaver on there, so textile arts are in my DNA.  I made a quilt for my wedding, I made quilts for my babies.  I even wrote a great report on Quilting for my American Art History class at the University of Dallas.

I made another quilt just like this one but different, for the other daughter.

I started them 8 years ago.  When I only had Two Daughters.

And now I have THREE daughters.

The quilting gods have been good to me and I may have found enough discontinued fabric, in the same print but a THIRD color to back the third quilt.  (If anyone has some extra Moda Robyn Pandolph Secret Garden or Morning Glory fabric, Please Email me.)

I only have 568 more triangles to sew onto 71 more squares to make 8 pointed stars.

Lest you think this is some old timey picture, I'll have you know that's a One Direction calendar above Susan's bed.

I took Frank's advice and got out my camera manual and learned how to take pictures in Monochrome.  

Here's the color version.  I haven't made matching pillow cases yet.

Here's a close-up of the backing fabric.  This is actually Lucy's quilt.  Susan's is at the quilter's house right now, being machine quilted by a woman whose daughter lives in Sevilla!  Small weird world.
