What do you think?

How does it look?

I love it.

I started making it myself, but Patrick got super-annoyed with the amount of time I was spending on it and had me email the whole thing to a graphic design wizard that he works with.  She might not be speaking to him anymore...

Edmund saw it and said, "No offense but...(which tells me I will soon be offended)...that looks nothing like you."

He's right.  I can only wink my left eye.

I'm still waffling between having that little sidebar button with the envelope be a "Subscribe by email" button or an "Email me" button.  What is it supposed to be anyway?

And if it's not an "Email me" button, I need to put up some easy way to email me.  Until then, my email is on my Blogger profile, which is in the "About me" link.  Convoluted, I know.

What's it like to comment on this blog anyway?

I think I have all the kinds of commenting enabled, but sometimes people tell me they can't comment without logging into Google or other things first.  How do I disable THAT?

Regarding the What We're Reading Wednesday Link Up...should we do some more themes? With sufficient advanced notice?  Or would you rather just read whatever you want?  Or both?

Catherine at Catholic Mom Apologia gave me the idea to do an Adult Fiction Written Before 1960 link-up.  Does that sound like something you WWRW linkers would be up for?

Without you, there wouldn't even be a link-up, so I'm expecting to hear from you on this and all of my other questions.

Thank you in advance!

  1. Um. Hello! The banner is awesome. And the tagline? Love it. And I promise to do my best to stay on top of whatever themes you come up with.

  2. Themes are great if they're vague! Looks good over here!

  3. Oh man, this is so adorable and cool I love it! And now I want to steal your tagline...

  4. My sister did that - I think she needs to go into business. People make careers doing this kind of graphic design!

  5. Jessica, it is so, SO lovely! I think the header is great and I love how clean and easy to use it is.

About the email: after having to find a kabillion blogger email addresses for the Sheenazing Awards I will say that it's best if you have a contact tab at the top, move your About to the top (just as is, since it links to your blogger profile) or if you move the About to the top, type something up and include your email right there. You could also just add an "Email Me at yadayada {at} gmail {dot} com" at the top. Moral of story: have it at the top. :) Unless you don't actually want people emailing you.

    1. Great! Thanks, Bonnie, that's exactly the kind of feedback I need.

    2. I third this. I'm about to do it with my site because even though my little envelope icon does go to my email, people don't recognize it. A contact page is very clear.

For WWRW, I'm down for some theme/suggestions. It will give me some focus on what to read.

Commenting is fine for me, but I'm always logged into Google, so maybe my opinion doesn't count.

And as I said yesterday, I lovey lovey love the re-design. So purty.

  6. It looks great! I second what Bonnie said. Just put your email address in the "about" and make the envelope email subscribe. I hate contact forms that open up outlook, which I have never in my life used!

I like WWRW as it is, just getting to read whatever we want. It would probably be more interactive with themes. If that's your goal.

    1. Good to know. I'm afraid maybe themes might make it less interactive because people might want to link-up but missed the theme, or want to review something else, and that's cool too.

  7. What a great new look!

Hey, I like themes! Maybe some of them should be things like, "Kids' books that you like but that cause you to struggle to decide whether or not they would be appropriate reading for kids," or, "Books that raise a difficult moral quandary," or things like that. I would enjoy and appreciate hearing other people's feedback on topics like that.

  8. I love the new look! Look awesome!

And, I like WWRW just as it is, but themes are good too, as long as they are really vague. I can see how themes might be really fun.

  9. Like the new look.
Hoping to be better about WWRW, themes might help.

  10. Your blog looks awesome. It makes me want to update mine--because other than adding a few thingys on the right side, it's had the same boring design for three years. But I don't know how to do any of this stuff. I have no idea how to use Bloglovin' or Instagram. I'm sort of pathetic, actually! But this is terrific. (Your tag line is the best, mostly because it includes bacon.)

I love WWRW as is, but if you decide to do themes that might be fun, too.

    1. Laura, How do you read blogs? Bloglovin is an app I have on my phone (it works on the computer too) and I "follow" my favorite blogs on Bloglovin. I follow yours, so obviously, you don't need to be a user to let people see your blog. I understand Feedly is the same sort of thing, and I have followers on there too. If you take photos on your phone, Instagram is just another app to upload and share photos with friends. It has cool features and filters to fancy up the photos too. I google my blogging technical questions and watch videos and read other posts to do things like "add social media buttons" etc. Some things are just beyond me though, like adding my own fonts to blogger, etc.

  14. Love the new look! The font even reminds me of bacon. Was that intentional? And themed WWRW? Might encourage me to link up more...or even pick up a book. I need some inspiration.
